India’s greatest ODI XI (cricket team)

In response to the Australian best ODI team (Australia’s greatest ODI XI Adam Gilchrist (wk), Mark Waugh, Ricky Ponting, Dean Jones, Steve Waugh (capt), Michael Bevan, Andrew Symonds, Shane Warne, Brett Lee, Dennis Lillee, Glenn McGrath, Greg Chappell), I guess the question is which ‘indian’ team could beat them, as well as which Indian ODI [...]

WordPress headers with (india) cricket themes

I recently changed my header, but I guess I did like my previous WorldCup-1983 one. So I’m going to collect any cricket-oriented banner I make/use and place it here.

The current banner I am using is called Cheer.

Another banner I played around is called Huddle (I know, I know… I didn’t say the name would be [...]

Flashback: advertisement controversy

A long long time ago (back in 2004), there was a controversy over a Pepsi ad featuring ‘child labour’. I just thought about it because this site featured the video ad on their site. The two news articles featuring this controversy are here and here. Another opinion piece is found here (you have to scroll [...]

India not in Hussey’s top four threat? Look again

So Hussey has finally gone on record and identify four great threats to Aussie World Cup chances: South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and New Zealand. Rediff reports,
Batsman Mike Hussey believes four teams will be the main threats to Australia when they defend their World Cup title in the West Indies.
“I think the South Africans are [...]

“MistyLook” WordPress Theme Review

OK… two themes in two days. Now that’s getting hard to keep up with. I’m still working on the Fjord look and feel (update: which as of now is officially over and replaced with Hemingway). I somehow like Fjord’s playful short-column multiple information possibilities. Good for a newspaper effect. The MistyLook on the other hand [...]

Sehwag: maturing or scared?

Rediff.com has carried a story that Sehwag is going to curb some attacking shots.
Indian opener Virender Sehwag is prepared to tone down his explosive batting style to regain form and make an impact at the World Cup starting next month.
My comment would be… as I understand it, Sehwag became famous for [...]

“Fjords” WordPress Theme Review

Already I’m quite impressed with Fjords (whatever it means). And I even like it’s thin columns, especially since it allows for full use of the side-bar widget. Right now, however, I am still in the process of adapting the top (custom) header, to suit both this four-part split as well as this site. Hopefully I’ll [...]

Bye Bye ODI Kumble

So it’s official… what everyone thought was true has actually happened. Kumble is bidding the ODI game goodbye. More importantly… the countdown to tests have also started. (Cricinfo had earlier reported that… “Anil Kumble, India’s veteran legspinner, has said that the World Cup would probably be his last one-day tournament, a fact that would be [...]

Bowler vs Batsman: The Indian (containment) story

I don’t care about 350-400 plus totals. My concern is why wasn’t Australia able to defend them. The fact that ODIs are batsman dominated doesn’t change the fact, that it shouldn’t be so hard to defend a 350 plus total. And perhaps the addage, line-and-length may not be as simple as it seems.
I think, if [...]

‘Breaking’ news: Bret Lee out of world cup!

According to cricinfo,
Stuart Clark will replace Brett Lee in Australia’s World Cup squad after Lee was ruled out with an ankle injury. Lee saw an orthopaedic surgeon today but the problem, which occurred during a training fall in Wellington last week, had not improved and his recovery is expected to take up to three months.
